Usage Terms

By reading this magazine you accept the short set of terms below. They are written to be read, not to trip anyone up, and they apply to every page on this domain.

Reading and sharing

You are welcome to read, print and save articles for your own personal use. Sharing a link to an article with friends, in a group chat or on social media is always fine, and we appreciate it. What we ask you not to do is copy whole articles, or large parts of them, onto another website, into a newsletter or into a product without our written permission. Short quotations with a clear credit and a link back to the original page are fine.

Who owns what

The text, page designs and illustrations on this site belong to us or are used with permission. Photographs come from image libraries under licenses that allow their use here; those licenses do not automatically pass on to you, so please do not lift images for your own projects.

General information, not personal advice

Our guides on travel, home projects, parties, style and gadgets are general. They cannot take your budget, your building, your health or your local rules into account. In particular:

• Electrical work, gas, structural changes and anything involving safety should be carried out by a properly qualified professional.
• Travel rules such as baggage allowances, entry requirements and road regulations change; always check with the airline, authority or operator before you go.
• Where an article touches on health or money, treat it as background reading and ask a qualified person about your own situation.

You use the information on this site at your own discretion. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that result from relying on it.

Links to other places

Some older articles point to other websites. We do not run those sites and cannot vouch for their content, products or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement, and anything you arrange with another business is between you and that business. How we think about suggestions in general is described on why we recommend things.

Mistakes and changes

We work hard to keep articles accurate, but errors can slip through and facts can age. If you spot something wrong, please tell us through the contact page and we will look at it. We may edit, update or remove articles at any time, and we may revise these terms as well; the version on this page is the one that applies.

Privacy

How we handle the small amount of data involved in running the site is explained in our privacy notice.
