Cookie Notice
Cookie banners usually come before a long list of trackers. Ours is the exception: there is very little to list. This page explains exactly what is stored on your device when you read the magazine and how you can remove it.
Cookies we do not use
We do not set cookies for analytics, advertising, retargeting, social media or personalization. No outside company places cookies through our pages, because we do not load scripts, widgets or embeds from other companies.
The single entry we keep
When you click accept or decline on the banner, the site writes a small entry to your browser's localStorage. Strictly speaking this is not a cookie, but it does a similar job, so we mention it here. It holds one thing only: your answer, so the banner does not reappear on every page.
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banner answer | localStorage in your browser | Remember that you have already answered | Until you clear it |
The entry is never sent to our servers. It does not identify you and cannot be used to follow you to other sites.
Changing your mind
To see the banner again and give a different answer, remove the stored entry:
- In your browser, open the settings area that deals with privacy or stored website data.
- Search for this website's domain in the list of stored site data.
- Delete the data for this site, then reload the page.
A private or incognito window also starts without any stored answer, and nothing is kept once you close it.
Why there is a banner at all
With so little stored, you might wonder why we show a banner. We prefer to be upfront. Some readers want to know exactly what a site keeps on their device, and a short, plain question at the top of the page is the clearest way to say "almost nothing" without hiding it in small print. Declining changes nothing about how the articles work; every page reads the same either way.
Server logs are separate
Our hosting provider records basic technical details of each request, such as IP address and time, to keep the site running safely. That is not a cookie and nothing is stored on your device for it. The privacy notice explains those logs and your rights in more detail.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, write to us via the contact page. We would rather explain once more than leave anyone guessing.
